If you intend to study at Lee University as a
nonimmigrant student, you must obtain a student visa.
With your admission letter, you should have received a
Form I-20 (for an F-1 student visa) or a Form DS-2019
(for a J-1 student visa) which you will use in obtaining
your visa. Before making a visa appointment, the US
government requires that you pay a SEVP I-901 fee. To
pay the I-901 fee go to the following link:
http://www.ice.gov/sevis/i901/faq3.htm.
This fee can be paid by mail or over the internet. For
specific instructions on applying for a visa please
visit the following website:
http://travel.state.gov/visa/temp/types/types_1268.html. Take your Form I-20 or Form IAP-66, passport,
and statement of funds to the nearest U.S. Embassy or
Consulate to apply for a student visa. You cannot enter
the U.S. to pursue studies on a B-2 (tourist) visa or a
visa waiver and expect to change to a student visa
category after you arrive. The U.S.Citizenship and
Immigration Service (USCIS) will deny this request, and
you will have to leave the U.S. to obtain a proper visa. |
