If you want to drive in the states, you should get an
International Driver’s License before you leave your
home country. The International Driving Permit is
translated into the nine official languages of the
United Nations and serves as a translation to be used in
conjunction with your valid driver’s license. It can be
useful in emergencies, such as traffic violations or
accidents, particularly if your native language is not
English. An International License can not be obtained
once you arrive here.
To obtain a Tennessee Driver’s License, you must take
both written and driving tests. To find out more
information, contact the Tennessee Safety Department
Driver’s License Center at 423-478-0346. You should
obtain a Driver’s License Manual before taking your
tests because some of our traffic laws may vary from
those in your home country. Do not drive without a valid
driver’s license: this will get you into serious
trouble! |
