All students are required to live in campus housing
for their freshman and sophomore years. They are
eligible to live off-campus if they meet one of the
following criteria:
▪ Age 21 or older
▪ Married, Divorced or Widowed
▪ Passed 60 hours of semester credit
with 2.0 grade point average
▪ Live with parents in Cleveland
▪ Veteran with two years of military
service
Off-Campus Apartments
If you plan to live off-campus, you will need to find an
apartment. There are two types of off-campus housing:
- Rooms in
private residences (approximately $250 to $350 per
month) – These usually contain one bed, a desk, and
toilet facilities. Sometimes toilet and kitchen
facilities are shared with other tenants. The rent
usually includes utilities, but not meals.
- Apartments -
These may be furnished (rare) or unfurnished. The
average rent is $300 to $600 per month (utilities, TV,
cable and phone). Units usually
include a living room, bedroom (s), kitchen, and
bathroom (s). Students who choose to live off-campus are
encouraged to get renter’s insurance that covers fire or
loss of personal property. The Residential Life Office
offers a housing referral program to help you locate
suitable off-campus accommodations. For more
information, contact Residential Life at
housing@leeuniversity.edu. You may also call at

On-Campus Housing
Lee University operates 17 "Resident Halls or
apartments" (please see housing information for complete
description and prices), and several off-campus
apartments. Campus housing is arranged by application.
Housing assignments are based on space availability and
any preferences indicated on the housing application. To
apply for on-campus housing, complete a housing
application and submit it to the housing department,
along with your $200 (U.S.) deposit. No application will
be processed without the deposit. You will need to apply
early in order to avoid complications. All freshman
undergraduate students living in residential halls are
required to participate in a meal plan. The cost will be
added to your bill during registration. Accommodation
arrangements to live with an American family are not
available through Lee University. For more information,
contact the Residential Life Office:
housing@leeuniversity.edu.
Shipping Belongings
Many international students ship their belongings to the
US. If you are living on-campus, you must be in your
room in order to accept any items shipped to you. It is
wise to personally bring ample clothing and supplies
with you, just in case your belongings do not arrive on
time. You may need an electrical adapter if you bring
appliances from your country. U.S. electrical current is
110-115, 60 cycle AC. In some cases, it may be better
for you to purchase a new appliance upon your arrival in
the states.
